 The Choral

Tuesday 17th Feb -
Bus leaves 2:15am - $12 pay at the door

1916. As war rages on the Western Front, the Choral Society in Ramsden, Yorkshire has lost most of its men to the army. The Choral’s ambitious committee, determined to press ahead, decides to recruit local young males to swell their ranks. They must also engage a new chorus master, and despite their suspicions that he has something to hide, their best bet seems to be Dr. Henry Guthrie (Ralph Fiennes) – driven, uncompromising, and recently returned from a career in Germany. As conscription papers start to arrive, the whole community discovers that the best response to the chaos that is laying waste to their lives is to make music together.

 Hamnet

Tuesday 17th Feb -
Bus leaves 11:45am - $12 pay at the door

From Academy Award® winning writer/director Chloé Zhao, Hamnet stars Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal as Agnes and William Shakespeare. This powerful love story focuses on the devastating loss of their 11-year-old son, Hamnet, to the plague in 16th-century England. The film explores intense, contrasting grief within their marriage and how this tragedy inspires Shakespeare's play Hamlet.

Mussel Night @ Happy Hour

Fri 20th Feb - 5:00pm

A Mussel Tasting and short presentation will be given by Tracy Bold, from the  Advance Mussel Supply. Tracy is going to explain their journey in a family Mussel farming business based in Portarlington, with video of the process - and best of all some great recipes backed up with a tasting for those who love mussels and those who are sceptical about them. A baked kilpatrick style, and other sauces.

I for one have never tried a mussel but I feel this is the opportunity, plus receive a glass of lovely cold wine and bread for dipping in the sauce! All included in the $5 fee. What a great way to start the weekend and to celebrate local industry.

If you would like to be part of this please put your name on the list, and the $5 in an envelope with your name on it  into the box in the library for our catering purposes.

However, if you just want to come along for the fun of Friday night then please do so, and you are able to listen to Tracy without partaking.  See you then!

For further information you may want to check out their website or their Facebook page.  https://www.advancemussel.com.au/

Night @ The Movies - Cash

Thursday 26th Feb - 7:00pm

Cash is not to be confused with the American film of the same name. This is French and utterly brilliant. A con man is murdered and his brother takes the best revenge he could. An absolute hustle!  Stars Jean Reno, Jean DuJardin and Ciaran Hinds. Part English, part French but good sub-titles.

March Movies

Enjoy an afternoon or a night at the Movies in the film room in the Community Centre. No need to book - just arrive and enjoy the show.

Afternoon @ The Movies -
The Car

Tuesday 12th Mar - 2:30pm

These two movies are worlds apart but both exceptionally well done in their own way. I hope you'll find fun in watching them.

"The Car" from 1977 is a supernatural film that has become a genuine cult classic. A mysterious black car goes on a murderous rampage terrorising a small town. No one knows its origin or who is driving it or why. The local Sheriff ( James Brolin) only knows he has to stop this seemingly indestructible machine but has no way of achieving it.

Night @ The Movies - Mr. Right

Thursday 26th Mar - 7:00pm

"Mr Right" from 2015 is rolled into comedy, romance, action and very quirky. Unlucky in love Martha (Anna Kendrick) meets Francis (Sam Rockwell) who seems different to the other guys. Really different! That is if you don't count out that he's a hit man on the run from a cartel, but for Martha he just might turn out to be Mr. Right. In fact they could be a killer couple. As I said, definitely quirky but quite delightful.
